Wire EDM

EDM-to-threadEDM machining allowing processing of outer and inner contour with inclined and/or upright. There are also 4-axis machining strategies with possibility of automatic synchronization and interactive.

Sprutcam allows the development of NC program for CNC wire EDM machines 2-4 axes.

The edging operations are intended to generate the path of the wire along the contour of a 2D profile (2 and 3 axes) or simultaneously along two sides, top and bottom profile profile (4 axes).sprutcam-edm _ 2d-3d

Processing of 2D contour is drawn to the thread path is built along the contour (two axes), as well as 2D boundary movement with a given angle of inclination of the wire (conical or three-axis machining). Therefore the resulting wire path is based on a single profile, contrary to what is the case with the four ACEs where profiles are two: the lower and upper bounds.

4 d contouring machining is the operation that serves for generating 2D contours along two wire path simultaneously. One of these outline defines the movement of lower slide guide and the second profile indicates the movement of the slider higher. Therefore in this operation unlike with 2D machining, wire movement upper and lower extremities can describe a completely different route.

You can define the start and end point of processing, you can also enter "stop" points, cutting angle values, sync points in addition to other parameters individually for each contour.

Sprutcam allows you to generate different types of cutting: roughing, finishing, cutting and automatic Threading wire. You can also set the sequence of processing, optimize cutting directions, specify the RADIUS compensation and enter commands.

In and out points are interactive and can be moved directly from the graphics window, or you can define the precise dimensions compared to other items or respect to the coordinates from the source.

In some cases, for example when working consists of a series of closed profiles, complete cutting along the edges can cause the fall of junk parts of workpiece. Sprutcam provides a defined set of parameters that allows to leave unfinished areas, called "waste" on the piece of work. When the FLOSS reaches such areas the system triggers arrests of process so that you can secure the workpiece and then the "waste" can be cut automatically. You can define parameters, determine the number of steps for cutting, the number of cuts to the cleanliness of scrap after cutting profile and determine the sequence of cuts.

For emptying pockets the path of the wire is made usually from a pre-hole as close as possible to the center of the piece. This processing is done by removing the material without lifting the falling pieces of metal and consists of equally spaced cuts or sequential squiggles until you have removed all the material inside the pockets.

Modern CNC EDM machining systems allow you to fill in the default table of parameters for each profile cutting condition. In the process one of the tables is selected by specifying a particular code for cutting conditions. Sprutcam maintains that cutting conditions in its operations. Depending on the thickness and the material of the workpiece, the material and the diameter of the wire, the required surface finish on the part, you can select the different cutting conditions cutting offset value and taking into account the radius of the wire, the power of the electrical discharge, and any other separate parameters for each cut. The tables of the cutting conditions can be chosen between special libraries or compiled into each new operation.
